Your Next.js links load pages before you click
Key takeaway: Links with prefetch on download their page as soon as they show up on screen.
Notes & links
Links with prefetch on download their page as soon as they show up on screen. In my test inbox that was every full email, 101 kB before I clicked anything. Next.js 16.4 added await navigation(). Put it above the heavy part and that part waits for the real click. Same inbox: about 1 kB per prefetch, and the message loads when you open it. Filmed in real Chrome on next 16.4.3.
